Chandigarh stalking: Subash Barala seeks more time for son Vikas’ appearance before cops

Chandigarh: Chandigarh stalking main accused Vikas Barala who is accused of stalking and attempting to abduct 29-year-old Varnika Kundu, on Wednesday refused to accept a summons issued by the Chandigarh Police.

The summons was issued on Tuesday late evening. However, after Vikas son of Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala refused to accept it, the police went ahead and pasted it on the gate of his residence.

Moreover, his family in Sector 7, Chandigarh too refused to accept the summons from the police.

Meanwhile, Subhash has requested the Chandigarh Police to give time to his son Vikas and his aide Ashish.

Subhash said that the notice was received early morning on Wednesday, hence, they needed some time.

While the Varnika Kundu stalking case has been the centre of media glare for the last couple of days, the incident is also likely to be raised in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

Following the incident, the Chandigarh Police came under fire over allegations of lapse in probe. However, the police later said that they were unbiased and were investigating the case with an open mind.

After the incident, Vikas Barala has not come forward, however, his father Subhash Barala on Tuesday said that there was no pressure or efforts to influence the police.

He even went on to say that Varnika was like his daughter.

Vikas was arrested after Varnika filed a complaint with the police.

Meanwhile, sources informed a leading media house that Chandigarh Police failed to collect blood and urine samples of Vikas Barala and his friend.
