Stop movement of vehicle strictly on road which get inundated suddenly

Bhopal. Local administration should exercise extra caution and issue advance alerts with a view to preventing road and other accidents that may be caused by sudden inundation during monsoon season. Movement of vehicles and people should be strictly stopped at the identified places and one stop before it on both sides. Full publicity should be made through radio, TV and other public media before releasing water from mega dams and reservoirs. These instructions were given by Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram while reviewing pre-monsoon preparations at a meeting of state-level committee constituted to tackle with flood and other natural calamities. Additional Chief Secretary Madan Mohan Upadhyay, Principal Secretaries and Secretaries of various departments were present on the occasion. Principal Secretary Revenue Shri B.P. Singh informed that check-list has been issued to all the collectors in connection with relief and rescue operations during floods and excessive rainfall.
The Chief Secretary instructed the Water Resources Department to ensure strengthening of banks of dams and reservoirs, coordination in releasing water from mega dams and inter-state dams, receiving alerts and forecasts by the Weather Department and establishment of a control room. The Chief Secretary also instructed for further training of the Home Guard divers for ensuring rescue operations in deeper water.
The Home Department informed that Home Guard jawans, motorboats and flood relief and rescue material are being mobilized to deal with any untoward situation. The Urban Administration Department is cleaning nullahs and drains for preventing overflow of water from them. Food material, fodder, medicines and necessary chemicals for drinking water treatment are being stored in advance in the area, which become inaccessible during monsoon season. Director, Weather Department has informed that monsoon is likely to be normal in the state this year. The department has made arrangements for sending quick and regular weather reports to the control room and other departments. Discussion was held with Red Cross to identify some centres before monsoon where blankets, clothes, milk powder, food material etc can be stored. The Chief Secretary instructed to exercise extra caution in flood-prone areas.
