Implement metro rail projects within time limit : CM

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to implement metro rail projects of Bhopal and Indore within time-limit. The projects costing about Rs. 8,000 crore will be completed with 70 percent loans and 15 percent grants each of the Central and State Governments. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan gave these instructions at a review meeting of Urban Administration & Development Department here today. Departmental minister Shri Babulal Gaur and Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram were also present on the occasion.

It was informed at the meeting that global tenders will be invited after Centre’s approval of detailed project report (DPR) of metro rail project.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan directed that work should be started soon on the project to free Narmada River from Amarkantak upto state’s border. It was informed at the meeting that there are 53 cities on the banks of Narmada River from Amarkantak upto Gujarat border where schemes are being chalked out for disposal of sewer water. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan also instructed that assessment should be made as to what improvement has been witnessed in job opportunities for domestic women workers after imparting of training to them. It was informed that 20 thousand urban domestic women workers are being trained in the state of which training of 2,500 women domestic workers has been completed.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan directed that special attention should be paid to quality of urban infrastructural works. Special attention should also be paid to tax recovery in urban bodies. Haath-Thela and rickshaws should be provided to all the eligible Haath-Thela and rickshaw pullers. He said that it should be kept in view while chalking out drinking water schemes for cities by lifting water from river that villages on the route should also be supplied water from the scheme. He said that he will himself review development schemes of mega cities.

Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Babulal Gaur said that schemes are being chalked out to regulate traffic in major cities. He said that powers to confiscate property for recovering taxes has also been given to municipalities now.

It was informed at the meeting that an urban body-wise programme is being chalked out for Shahri Jandarshan programme. Drinking water schemes of 37 cities have been sanctioned under Chief Minister’s Drinking Water Scheme at a cost of Rs. 493 crore. Works of traffic, urban beautification, social infrastructure development and heritage conservation will be undertaken under Chief Minister’s Urban Infrastructure Development Programme. For this, a Rs. 1428 crore scheme has been chalked out. Loan worth Rs. 1,000 crore will be taken from HUDCO for the scheme. Process is underway to constitute Drinking Water Regulatory Commission in the state. Special Area Authority is being established in Orchha and Chitrakoot. Principal Secretary Finance Shri Ajay Nath, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Manoj Shrivastava and Principal Secretary Urban Administration and Development Shri S.P.S. Parihar were also present on the occasion.
