Beauty of Narmada Ghats Attracts Distinguished Guests

Bhopal. All classes have been influenced by the activities of the ‘Namami Devi Narmade’ – Seva Yatra. This week a discussion was held with distinguished guests who had come to take part in the Yatra besides people from adjacent districts. The distinguished guests have been influenced by the beauty of the Narmada ghats. Well-known film Producer – Director Shri Prakash Jha (Mumbai), who is also picturising the Yatra said during a discussion on Wednesday that he considers himself very fortunate for having got the opportunity to picturise ‘Narmadaji’ which is considered the lifeline of Madhya Pradesh. Narmada yatris also appreciated the arrangements made to welcome the Yatra at Barman Ghat in Narsinghpur district.

Similarly, Ghazal singer Shri Talat Aziz who had come for the Jansamvad programme last Monday found the scenic beauty of the Narmada banks at Bouras in Raisen district ‘incredible’. He has composed a piece on the importance of Narmada Yatra. During the Narmada Yatra Several people reached those ghats about which they had only heard or read till now.

It is noteworthy that several prominent saints have granted the Yatra the status of ‘anushthan’ (ritual) for Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s initiative for generating awareness among people towards the environment.

The work of sharing the experiences of people who took part in the Yatra from Sehore, Raisen and Narsinghpur district was quite interesting. While farmers consider the conservation of Narmada beneficial from the point of view of irrigation of fields, the youngsters consider the Narmada river a medium to enjoy taking a dip and bath in the holy water. While people consider the Narmada respectable, the housewives residing in the villages on the banks of the Narmada river consider it most sacred due to their religious beliefs. Dr. J.S. Chouhan of Sehore district, who has spent his childhood on the lap of Narmada, does not want to lose any chance to take a dip in the holy river. He considers Narmada Yatra a unique initiative. Shri Virendra Singh of Raisen told that the people of the district were fortunate enough to have ‘darshan’ of Narmada Yatra throughout Navratri. Several members of the Self-help Groups of National Livelihood Mission of Udaipura development block took part in the Kalash Yatra. These women welcomed the Narmada Yatris. Shri Vivek Jain, Shri Manoj Vishwakarma and Shri Rajesh Dubey of Narsinghpur said that the people of the district were very enthusiastic towards the Yatra. Every citizen wants that rivers should be clean, all cities and villages must take the benefit of the cleanliness campaign, every town and village must be green. Also all water resources should be made useful for drinking water and irrigation.
