Mass Surya Namaskar on Youth Day today

Bhopal: Mass Surya Namaskar will be held on Yuva Diwas, the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on January 12 in all schools and colleges in the state. Students of ashram shalas will also participate. This would be 9th Mass Surya Namaskar since year 2007. This year also, students of class V to XII will take part in it. It will be held in educational institutions from 11 am to 12.30 pm. School Education Minister Shri Paras Jain will participate in Surya Namaskar with students at Ujjain’s Dussehra Maidan.

NGOs and common people will also participate in the event. Preparations have been made to hold Mass Surya Namaskar at larger scale this year for mass awakening. Surya Namaskar will be held simultaneously throughout the state on one signal day. The school devoid of a ground will hold the event at nearest ground. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s message will also be broadcast during Surya Namaskar programme.

Chief Minister, Ministers, MPs, MLAs, Mayors, Chairpersons of Zila and Janpad Panchayats, Nagar Palikas, Nagar Panchayats and corporators will participate in the programme. Educational institutions have also been directed to conduct Surya Namaskar in every educational institution and hostel as per schedule. Students of class I to IV will not participate in Surya Namaskar but will be present as spectators. It will be aired live from all primary channels of radio and Vividh Bharti. The broadcast will continue till entire Surya Namaskar programme.

The government has directed to organise Surya Namaskar compulsorily in all educational institutions so that persons willing to participate in Surya Namaskar can participate in it at any institution. Rehearsal of Surya Namaskar has also been done in schools.

It will be totally voluntary and not binding on any student to participate in Mass Surya Namaskar. Mentally and physically ill persons can participate after medical examination. Schools and colleges have been directed to collect information about number of participant students.
