Court Stays Auction of Sugar Seized during Raids
In an interim order, a court in Indore has stayed the Madhya Pradesh sugar control order to forfeit and auction nearly 8,040 quintals of sugar seized during recent raids.
While giving relief to sugar traders, SK Shrivastava, Additional Session Judge, however, also instructed them to provide a bank guarantee of Rs 3,000 per quintal to the state government.
Under sugar control order, the district administration has announced that it would forfeit and auction the sugar seized lately. Upset with this, as many as 35 sugar traders from various parts of state had moved the local court.
PK Maheshwari, the petitioners counsel, said that the court has provided relief to traders who had challenged the state government’s order.
The court has fixed October 6 as the next date of hearing the petition.
