Once unknown, Madhya Pradesh is now major investment-friendly state: CM

Bhopal: A delegation of businessmen from Japan led by Japanese Ambassador Shri Takeshi Yagi called on Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Mantralaya here today and held discussions regarding increasing presence of Japanese companies in view of conducive atmosphere for investment in the state.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan thanked Japanese Ambassador and delegation for giving priority to Madhya Pradesh. The delegation comprised Tsulwasa Tewa Noto, Yasinao Noguchi and Shri Shin Oya. Industries Minister Smt. Yashodhara Raje Scindia, Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa and Principal Secretaries of various departments were present on the occasion.
Shri Chouhan informed the delegation that Madhya Pradesh has witnessed rapid growth in various development sectors during the last one decade. Today’s positive scenario is the result of hard work done during last decade. He informed that Madhya Pradesh was an unknown state in the country and world, but has now established its identity as a major investment-friendly state.
The Chief Minister said that ties should not be limited to commercial relations, but initiative should also be taken to cement sports and cultural ties. He said that International Buddhist and Indic Studies University has been established at Sanchi. Facilities like golf will also be developed here. Giving invitation to participate in Global Investors’ Summit to be held at Indore on October 8 and 9, the Chief Minister urged that Japan should attend the summit as a partnering country and not participating one. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s proposed Japan visit will also help cement ties between Madhya Pradesh and Japan.
JBIC urged to cooperate in state’s 5 projects
Shri Chouhan said that Japan can extend technical and financial assistance in strengthening of necessary development infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh. He urged for cooperation from Japan Bank for International Corporation for 5 projects of the state including construction of district-level roads, improvement in transmission, expansion of piped water schemes in rural areas, improvement of canals and conservation of 10 water bodies in Bhopal city.
Japanese Ambassador Shri Yagi assured to get these projects examined. He said that there are good possibilities of increasing commerce, trade and investment in Madhya Pradesh. Praising the move to hold Global Investors Summit to apprise about these possibilities, he said that Japanese commercial and industrial community will participate in it in an impressive way. Shri Yagi said that Madhya Pradesh did not find adequate representative from commercial and industrial point of view earlier, but now situation is improving rapidly. He said that a programme will be chalked out soon to apprise Japanese companies about investment potential in Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan informed the delegation that Madhya Pradesh has fully emerged as an ideal investment-friendly state and its investment scenario will be completely changed during coming 2-3 years.
Earlier, Secretary to CM Shri Vivek Agrawal informed the delegation about Madhya Pradesh’s Vision Document 2018 and held discussions on Madhya Pradesh’s strategies and priorities. Additional Chief Secretary Shri S.R. Mohanty held discussions on possibilities of generation of solar, wind and organic energies.
