Women’s helpline number launch, 17 complaints received on first day

Bhopal: The Women’s Helpline number received 17 complaints on the first day of its launch on January 1, 2013. The complaints came from various regions of the state. Prompt action was taken on complaints received by Women’s Helpline as a result of which a case under section 306 was registered and the accused arrested in Chhatarpur district. It is noteworthy that Women’s Helpline has been launched from January 1 for ensuring prompt action on women’s complaints from all over the state. Its phone number is 1090.
AIG Crimes against Women Shri Amit Verma informed that most the complaints received today pertained to obscene calls from mobiles to women and presence of anti-social elements in front of schools. He informed that soon after receiving a complaint at the Helpline, immediate information is given to the nodal officer of concerning district and concerning police station in-charge with the directives to ensure action within 24 hours. An officer of the rank of Additional or Deputy SP has been made nodal officer in each district. It may be mentioned that complaints received by Women’s Helpline are monitored by Additional DGP Crimes against Women Smt. M. Aruna Mohan Rao
