CPI Parliamentarian Arrested While Trying to Enter Posco-India Project Site

Ahead of a rally to protest proposed steel plant Project of Posco-India, CPI leader and parliamentarian Bibhu Prasad Tarai was taken into custody when he was attempting to enter the plant site, reported PTI.

“Tarai was arrested as a preventive measure to avoid any law and order problem as a large number of anti-Posco activists have gathered in the area,” SP Jagatsinghpur Devdutta Singh was quoted as saying.

He said that prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC were imposed around Balitutha, the entry point to the proposed plant site where anti-Posco activists have been staging a dharna, said report.

He said that police was deployed in the area to stop any untoward incident, said report.
