Jaspreet’s Wife Ridicules Oz Police Claim; Another Indian Beaten up in Sydney

Wife of Jashpreet Singh, who was reportedly set on fire by a gang in Melbourne on Saturday, has said that the police first did not take action and now came out with a bizarre theory regarding the attack, said reports.

Australian police is probing whether Singh set himself on fire after he was assaulted by a gang of four men on Saturday, reported Headline Today.

Singh, who was attacked by four men in Essendon, had alleged that the four men poured a fluid on him and set him ablaze. He fled the scene shedding his clothes and is now recuperating in a hospital with 15 per cent burns.

The report said that Australian police claims that things don’t add up and the incidence was a bit strange and so they want to interrogate Singh again.

However, Singh’s wife has dismissed police’s theory, saying that it was ridiculous to think that her husband inflicted burn injuries on himself.

The incident has heightened tensions between Australia and India, after a spate of attacks on Indians studying and working in the country. The Australian Police have so far ruled out the attack on Singh as racial.

In the meanwhile, another Indian was bashed up in Australia, this time in Sydney, reported NDTV.

The victim, a 28-year-old, was at a beach in Sydney when a group of Australian-born boys and girls reportedly attacked him, said report, adding that other people in the beach allegedly did not help him.

The victims called the police himself, which took 40 minutes to arrive.

The report said that the attackers had reportedly confessed to have punched and kicked the Indian, who is a permanent resident of Australia and has lived there for 11 years.

The victim is  being taken for an internal medical check-up and x-rays.  He complains of extreme pain in his back, neck and head.
