Youths’ role vital in environment conservation: Malaiya

Bhopal: Environment Minister Shri Jayant Malaiya has said that youths can play a vital role in environment conservation. Participation of professors and teachers should also be ensured in this work. Shri Malaiya was inaugurating a two-day workshop on environment conservation and management here today.
Shri Malaiya said that entire world is gripped by concern for environment. In this context, the Environment Planning and Cooordination Organisation (EPCO) has availed services of noted environment experts. The organisation is receiving valuable suggestions for environment conservation and improvement. Shri Malaiya exhorted college professors and schoolteachers present on the occasion to chalk out a group master plan comprising 5 to 6 students having deep interest in environment subject. For this, he also announced to provide Rs. 5 lakh for EPCO.
Expressing concerning over environmental pollution, Shri Malaiya said that this grave problem is being overlooked. Its main cause is continued use of polythene. It is not only affecting groundwater level, but also thousands of cattle heads die after eating polythene. Along with voluntary organisations and intellectuals’ efforts for dissuading people from using polythene, professors and teachers should also motivate students being taught by them towards this.
Principal Secretary Housing & Environment Shri Iqbal Singh Bains threw light on the efforts being made by the EPCO for environment conservation and its future plans. He said that the EPCO will introduce refresher course on environment subject with the cooperation of Barkatullah University, Bhopal.
