Women to be given gas connections free of cost: CM

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that due to resolve of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, women will be given gas connections free of cost. Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said that 80 lakh gas connections will be distributed in the state. CM Shri Chouhan and Shri Pradhan were launching Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Shahdol today. At the programme, 7 thousand gas connections were distributed.

The Chief Minister announced to establish a university at Shahdol. He also dedicated Shaheed Bhagat Singh Commercial Complex.

Those presented on the occasion included Forest Minister Dr. Gaurishankar Shejwar, PWD Minister Shri Rampal Singh, Tribal Welfare Minister Shri Gyan Singh and Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Protection and Labour Minster Shri Om Prakash Dhurve.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has enhanced country’s prestige in the world. During short span of time, he has learned problems of Indian people and ensured concrete measures to solve them. In this series, Shri Modi chalked out Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to make life safe for women while cooking on traditional earthen stoves in villages and provide them gas connections. He said that names of the BPL families to be given free gas connections will not be deleted from BPL list.

The Chief Minister also referred to schemes for the welfare of poor being implemented by the state government. He said that Madhya Pradesh is the first state where wheat, rice and salt are being provided at Re. one per kg to the poor. The poor are being given residential pattas of lands occupied by them for years. Forest land right pattas are being provided to forest dwellers occupying forest land upto December 2005. He informed that Forest land right pattas will be given to one lakh beneficiaries in Shahdol division.

The Chief Minister said that 20 lakh houses will be provided to the poor in urban and rural areas of the state in next 3 years. He informed that for better education of poor students, the state government is providing free text-books, scholarships, uniform, cycles etc. coaching facilities have been provided for higher education to SC and ST students due to which over 300 students belonging to these classes have been selected in IIT, IIM, medical and engineering colleges. The state government will also bear expenses on their education. Benefit of Ladli Laxmi Yojana has been given to 22 lakh girls. Except Forest Department, 33 percent reservation has been given to women in government jobs.

Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said that Madhya Pradesh is among 5 states included in the first phase of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. He informed that 23 lakh gas connections have been given in Madhya Pradesh during last 2 years, of which 17 lakh are domestic gas connections. He informed that 35 lakh gas connections will be given in the state in next 3years and 80 lakh in next 5 years.

CM gives gifts to Shahdol district

The Chief Minister made several announcements for development of Shahdol and distributed benefits to beneficiaries under various schemes. He said that the people residing on the land of SECL for last 60 years will not be displaced. Ownership rights of small and large trees in Shahdol divison will be given to the people. He sanctioned works costing Rs. 1015 crore for 3 districts of the division. He sanctioned piped water scheme costing Rs. 291 crore for 162 villages in Indawar region of Umaria district.

The Chief Minister informed that 6000 thousand houses costing Rs. 470 crore will be constructed and provided to people in Shahdol division. Besides, villages with over 200 population will be declared as revenue villages. MNREGA wages and pension amounts will be paid through mobile vans in every village within a radius of 5 kms. The Chief Minister benefited 31 thousand 731 beneficiaries under various schemes of the government. These included 5011 forest rights pattas, 5656 Laxmi Laxmi Yojana certificates, 9715 land holder certificates, 811 certificates under Mukhyamantri Grameen Aawas, 160 power tiller tractors, 23 tractors and benefit-letters to 304 beneciaries under Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana.
