Women empowerment must for country’s progress: Baghel

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on the occasion of ‘Hareli’ festival on Thursday inaugurated first multi-activity centre ‘Aajivika Angna’ at Ganiyari village in Takhatpur block of Bilaspur district.

In this centre Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) jointly work for self employment under a single roof that houses several manufacturing units.

Speaking on this occasion, the chief minister said country would attain progress with empowerment of women.

Citing Mahatma Gandhi’s words, Baghel said the soul of India lives in villages and hence it is the priority of the state government to make rural populace self dependent. If villages strengthen then only the country will progress. With empowerment of women each family in villages will be strengthened, he further added.

Asserting that till now bangles are being imported in the state, Baghel expressed hope that soon the state would export it as the women SHGs are manufacturing bangles at the centre.

“There is enough lac production in the state which will be helpful in bangle production”, he said. Women bangle manufacturers presented bangles for CM’s wife.

Baghel also visited the manufacturing units of fly ash bricks, paver tiles and fencing poles through e-rickshaw and appreciated the efforts of women SHGs engaged in making them.

Notable, the premise has been developed by Panchayat and Rural Development department and under a single dome women are working. The works they do under the dome include tailoring of uniform and jute bags, incense sticks manufacturing, LED bulb, manufacturing of glass bangles and sanitary pads.

The premise had been constructed with a cost of Rs 3. 68 crore. The self employment activities undergoing here are sponsored and financed by Rural Livelihood Mission, Women and Child Development department and under various schemes of labour department.
