Veerangana Rani Avantibai sacrificed for the motherland – MP CM Chouhan
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the Veerangana Rani Avantibai sacrificed her life for the motherland fighting with all her might for her existence.
She presented a wonderful example of war skills, leadership ability and patriotism by continuously fighting against the British in the freedom struggle of 1857, he said.
The Chief Minister also mentioned the wars fought by Rani Avantibai in Jabalpur, Mandla and Dindori areas.
He said that their heroic stories will also be included in the curriculum so that the future generation remembers Rani Avantibai, Raja Shankarshah-Raghunath Shah and tribal leaders.
Along with this, a grand memorial and park of Veerangana Rani will be built at Mankedi, the statue site. Heroic stories of Rani Avantibai will also be engraved in the memorial.
He said she attended the Martyrdom Day program of Veerangana Rani Avantibai at Mankedi in Bargi of Jabalpur district today. He said that I am feeling proud by paying floral tributes at the birthplace of Veerangana Avantibai.
Describing the bravery saga of Veerangana, the Chief Minister said that British officers and prominent historians also admired her strategic skills.
Chouhan thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that memorials of brave martyrs and tribal leaders are being built in the Amrit Utsav of Independence being celebrated under his leadership.
Along with this, the sequence of making memorials is going on in Madhya Pradesh as well, he said.
Chouhan said every possible effort will be made to provide irrigation water to maximum number of villages under the Rani Avantibai Sagar Project.
For this, a project will be prepared and instructions for the survey will be issued immediately, he said.
He told that the area under irrigation is continuously increasing in the state.
At one time only 7.5 lakh hectares was irrigated, which has been increased to 45 lakh hectares. It will be increased to 65 lakhs in the next 2 years.
Chouhan said all-round efforts are going on to quench the thirst of the farmers.
Chouhan said I am happy to say that today you have talked about renaming the college after Raja Raghunath Shah-Shankar Shah.
Earlier we have named Chhindwara University after Raja Raghunath Shah-Shankar Shah.
In the beginning, Chief Minister Chouhan paid floral tributes to Rani Avantibai’s statue and picture.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the program by performing the Kanya Puja.
MLA Jalam Singh Patel also addressed. Chairman Backward Classes Welfare Commission Gauri Shankar Bisen, Chairman Gau Samvardhan Board Swami Akhileshwaranand Ji Maharaj, District Panchayat President Shri Santosh Varkade, along with public representatives and a large number of residents were present.
