Veerangana Rani Avantibai sacrificed for the motherland – CM Chouhan

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the Veerangana Rani Avantibai sacrificed her life for the motherland fighting with all her might for her existence. She presented a wonderful example of war skills, leadership ability and patriotism by continuously fighting against the British in the freedom struggle of 1857.

Chief Minister Chouhan also mentioned the wars fought by Rani Avantibai in Jabalpur, Mandla and Dindori areas. He said that their heroic stories will also be included in the curriculum so that the future generation remembers Rani Avantibai, Raja Shankarshah-Raghunath Shah and tribal leaders. Along with this, a grand memorial and park of Veerangana Rani will be built at Mankedi, the statue site. Heroic stories of Rani Avantibai will also be engraved in the memorial.

Chief Minister Chouhan attended the Martyrdom Day programme of Veerangana Rani Avantibai at Mankedi in Bargi of Jabalpur district today. He said that I am feeling proud by paying floral tributes at the birthplace of Veerangana Avantibai. Describing the bravery saga of Veerangana, the Chief Minister said that British officers and prominent historians also admired her strategic skills.

Chief Minister Chouhan said that every possible effort will be made to provide irrigation water to maximum number of villages under the Rani Avantibai Sagar Project. For this, a project will be prepared and instructions for the survey will be issued immediately. He told that the area under irrigation is continuously increasing in the state. At one time only 7.5 lakh hectares was irrigated, which has been increased to 45 lakh hectares. It will be increased to 65 lakhs in the next 2 years.
