Promotion of Hindi in information technology

Bhopal. Work to promote Hindi in information technology is being done constantly in Madhya Pradesh, which is among pioneer states in the country in this respect. On the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, entire software of CM Helpline’s call centre has been prepared in Hindi. Through the helpline, anyone can present his problem and reply is also given in Hindi. Taking further step, the state government has decided to give Rs. 2 lakh annual award to persons and institutions using Hindi in information technology effectively.
Unicode has been made mandatory in all computer work in government sector. It has succeeded in making Hindi users computer-savvy. A book “Unicode” has been published in Hindi for help in this respect. MAP-IT is publishing “Soochna Proudyogiki Samvad” regularly. Similarly, collection of circulars on e-governance issued from time to time is being published in Hindi. MAP-IT under Science & Technology Department and Public Management Department are conducting e-daksh for capacity building of information technology among government servants and e-shakti for internet awareness among women whose literature’s brochures and pamphlets have also been published in Hindi. Most of websites of Madhya Pradesh government are also available in Hindi.
Mouthpieces and other publicity materials are being published in Hindi by Bhopal-based Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Good Governance and Policy Management. Madhya Pradesh is a state where SMS’s in simple Hindi are being sent to farmers regarding agriculture.

Hindi – some facts

Not only in India, 100 crore people in the world speak in Hindi. Arrangements of learning and teaching are available in about 150 universities in the world. Hindi has status of second language in Mauritius and Haiti. Government of India has established Mahatma Gandhi Vishwa Hindi Vishwavidyalaya at Wardha (Maharasthra) and Vishwa Hindi Kendra has been set up in Mauritius. About 71 percent people of the country can understand Hindi. Easiest for computer, Hindi is written in Devnagri script. Hindi needs only 1000 characters as against one characters of Chinese language. Now, it has also been proved that Hindi is not only the richest language in the world vocabulary-wise, but also most scientific, capable and convenient language. In this way, it is lingua franca.
