To create Guinness world record, all set to plant 50 lakh saplings in Shahdol division on July 22

Bhopal: Shahdol division is all set to create record for Guinness Book of Records. Forest Minister Shri Sartaj Singh will launch the 50 lakh plant saplings in three districts of the division on July 22. The mass plantation will be undertaken through Forest Protection Committees on land outside forest areas under Jungle Bachao Abhiyan. Shahdol Collector Dr. Ashok Kumar Bhargava has directed officers to cooperate with people in plantation and monitor the programme. Free saplings are being provided to beneficiaries.

Forest Minister Shri Singh informed that existing world record of plantation is 3 lakh saplings. Under the programme, about 35 lakh saplings will be planted in Shahdol district. Jungle Bachao Abhiyan is being implemented to reduce burden on forests, planting saplings on private fellow land, fields, bundings etc. and to ensure participation of villagers in forest conservation.
Chief Conservator of Forests Shri Y. Satyam informed that Forest Department has been preparing for this mega plantation programme for last 4-5 months. Over 50 lakh saplings of eucalyptus, Khamar, bamboo, acacia, aonla etc. have been prepared. Over 50 lakh ditches have also been dug. Members of Forest Protection Committees have make preparations for planting saplings of their field bundings and fellow land. All set is to plant 50 lakh saplings at 42000 places in 955 villages through Forest Protection Committees and Village Forest Committees on July 22 at from 9 am to 7 pm.
