Ten crores for upper lake maintenance

NEW DELHI (MPINFO): Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur called on the Union Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath during his New Delhi visit today and extended New Year greetings to the latter.

During the interaction, Gaur said to the Union Urban Development Minister that an annual grant of Rs. 10 crore is provided to Chilka Development Authority for upkeep and cleaning of Chilka Lake in Orissa apart from a dredger machine worth Rs. 12 crore.

While the water of Chilka Lake is brackish and unfit for human consumption, he added.

Gaur pointed out that the water of Bhopal’s Upper Lake is used for drinking. Therefore, a dredger machine and annual fund for maintenance and cleaning of Bhopal’s Upper Lake should also be provided like Chikla Lake.

Kamal Nath gave consent for purchasing a dredger machine for Upper Lake’s cleaning operations and making available a grant of Rs. 10 crore for its maintenance and development.
