State receives Rs. 269 crore under RUSA

Bhopal. A sum of Rs. 269 crore has been sanctioned for 6 components to the state under Rashtriya Ucchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA). Of this, Rs. 134 crore 50 lakh will be given during current fiscal and same amount during next fiscal. Pt. S.N. Shukla Government Autonomous College, Shahdol will be upgraded to university. For this, Rs. 55 crore has been sanctioned. This was informed at a meeting of State Higher Education Council chaired by Higher and Technical Education Minister Shri Umashankar Gupta here today. Minister of State for Higher and School Education Shri Deepak Joshi also attended the meeting.

The Minister directed to utilize sanctioned amount within time-limit. He said that only practicable directives should be given. Once given, implementation of directives must be ensured at any cost. He said that monitoring should be strict, but its levels should be reduced.

Under RUSA, Indore, Gwalior and Jabalpur universities have been selected for infrastructure development. Each of them will get Rs. 20 crore. A sum of Rs. 12 crore each has been sanctioned for 5 new Model Colleges at Sheopur, Jhabua, Harda, Dindori and Umaria. Government Colleges at Depalpura and Sihora will be upgraded to Model Colleges at a cost of Rs. 4 crore each. A sum of Rs. 26 crore has been sanctioned for establishing new engineering college at Dhar. A sum of Rs. 2 crore each will be given for infrastructure development to 30 colleges.

Principal Secretary Higher Education Shri K.K. Singh, Project Director RUSA Shri Ajit Kumar, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU, Delhi Dr. Nageshwar Rao, Vice Chancellor of Jiwaji University, Gwalior Dr. Sangeeta Shukla and other members of the committee attended the meeting.
