State Govt Announces Oct as ‘Cleanliness Month’

The state government has announced that as many as 52, 000 villages under 23, 000 panchayats in the state would observe ‘Cleanliness Month’ from October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Gopal Bhargav, State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, said that instructions were given to all nodal officials to ensure that gram sabhas should be held in all villages and every household must follow the cleanliness norm as instructed by the government and there should be a toilet in every house.

The minister also warned that if any complaints regarding documents were received in gram sabha, the nodal officials would be held responsible for that.

Bhargav also stated the drive was aimed at to creating awareness among the people to make all villages ‘Nirmal Gaon’ (clean village).

He said that cleanliness torch rallies would also be taken out on October 1 in which school teachers, sarpanchs, Anganvadi activists and villagers would take part.
