Service in police not a profession, its mission: CM

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that job in police is not profession. It is a mission. Police have responsibility of providing security to public of the country and state. Top priority should be given to law and order. Gentlemen should be dealt with soft attitude and strong stand should be taken against criminals. Shri Chouhan was talking with Indian Police Service Officers of 2013-14 batch today at Mantralaya.

Director General of Police Shri Rishi Kumar Shukla, Additional Director General (Intelligence) Shri Rajiv Tandon and Officer on Special Duty to the Chief Minister Shri Adarsh Katiyar were present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that the state police have glorious history. Whatever task it was given, was accomplished successfully by the state police. No listed dacoit gang is in the state now. Naxalism is under control and network of SIMI has been destroyed.

He said police should have live contact with public and public representatives. Efforts should be made for rigorous and fast punishment to accused in crimes related to women. Strict vigilance should be maintained over anti-social elements.

Shri Chouhan said there should be feeling of safety in common people and fear in criminals. For this, police should be seen in the field and quick response is necessary. Dial-100 scheme yielded a good result in this regard. Now, efforts should be made to make it better. Drive should be launched against goons, betting people and mafia. Impression of working should be such that people can recall them.
