Rs. 100 crore released for construction of 210 tribal hostels in state

Bhopal: For qualitative improvement in education in tribal areas, Tribal Welfare Department has allocated about Rs. 100 crore for construction of 210 tribal hostels during last 10 years. This year, Rs. 20 crore has been provisioned for construction of 30 hostel buildings. About Rs. 117 crore has also been provided for construction of 233 Ashram Shala buildings in remote tribal areas of the state during last 10 years. This year, sanction has been accorded to construct 20 new Ashram Shala buildings at a cost of Rs. 25 crore.

The department has got completed 51 hostel buildings by releasing a sum of Rs. 16 crore 38 lakh. Similarly, Rs. 20 crore was provided to complete 25 under-construction hostels last year.
Tribals form 20.27 percent population in all 51 districts of the state. as many as 2510 residential educational institutions are being run in the state to provide education facility to tribal students. About 1.75 lakh students are imbibing education in these institutions.
