Prepare scheme to control pollution in Naramada : CM

Bhopal : Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to chalk out an ambitious scheme for controlling pollution in Narmada River. He said that activities to control pollution will be given the dimension of a mass movement. Narmada River is a symbol of Madhya Pradesh’s economic and spiritual development. Common people revere this river. It will not be allowed to be polluted in any way. Shri Chouhan was undertaking quarterly review of Environment Department’s activities at Mantralaya here today.

Shri Chouhan directed to convene a meeting of civil bodies of major cities for environmental management and control over pollution in urban areas. It was informed at the meeting that the General Administration Department has constituted a committee in connection of control over pollution in Narmada River. Process is going to chalk out a detailed scheme for pollution control. Master plans of Chitrakoot, Orchha and Amarkantak have been chalked out. Construction of Shaurya Smarak at Bhopal will be completed till March next year.

It was informed at the meeting that Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to chalk out an action plan regarding climate change. Climate Change Knowledge Management Centre is being established. It will be completed by March next year. Through the centre, information will be given to common people about possible dangers of climate change.
