Photo ID Must for Congress Membership

Bhopal:  Former hockey player and senior Congress leader Aslam Sher Khan on Sunday said the party membership drive, currently underway across the country, was totally transparent with no scope for any irregularities.

Khan, chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Committee, said that this was the first time that the party had made it mandatory for all aspiring members to furnish their photo identity cards.

Of the two photos submitted by aspiring members, one would be attached to the membership form while the other would be retained for office records, he said.

He said the initiative, geared towards restricting entry of bogus members into the party, was taken at the instance of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.
