Panel on Gas Tragedy Wants Curative Petitions Filed in SC: Reports
Bhopal — A five-member committee – constituted by the Madhya Pradesh government to look June 7 verdict in the Bhopal gas tragedy case – has submitted its report, said a leading TV news channel Thursday.
According to CNN-IBN, which claims to have exclusive access to the report, the document has advised the state to file a curative petition in the Supreme Court, urging for a re-look into its verdict that diluted charges against the accused.
The committee further wants a curative petition to be filed for better compensation for the victims.
The report says the state should request the Union government to form a joint task force to bring former Union Carbide chief Anderson and other accused to justice, reported the CNN-IBN website.
The report also says the state should file an appeal in the Sessions Court against the June 7 verdict.
