Orders regarding Omkareshwar special package issued

Bhopal: The State Government has issued orders regarding special package announced by Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan for submergence-affected people of Omkareshwar irrigation project on May 28, 2013. The submergence-affected families will soon get benefit of distribution of package as per eligibility.

The Chief Minister had announced special package of Rs. 212 crore 87 lakh a few days ago at Bhopal considering demands Omkareshwar dam project submergence-affected people.
As per provisions of rehabilitation policy, project submergence-affected families have already been provided Rs. 86 crore 68 lakh 68 thousand as compensation, Rs. 20 crore 19 lakh 36 thousand as special rehabilitation grant and about Rs. 31 crore 16 lakh as rehabilitation and transportation subsidy. Now, these families will get additional benefit of special package of Rs. 212 crore 87 lakh announced by the Chief Minister.
As per rehabilitation policy, compensation against assets and other benefits were distributed to affected families in year 2007-08. In all, 3652 out 6290 affected families had already vacated the submergence area. About 2638 families are still living in reservoir area due to various reasons. All these families were given 6 months’ time to vacate the reservoir area as per rehabilitation policy. Now, after 6 years, these families have been given time till July 15, 2013 to vacate the area after providing them benefit of special package. Thus, it is clear that allegation of not giving 6 months’ time as per rehabilitation policy is total baseless.
The submergence-affected families are enthusiastic about Omkareshwar package announced by the Chief Minister and wish to shift out of the place before monsoon after availing benefit of package. The State Government has urged Omkareshwar package beneficiary families to shift from the submergence area after availing their benefit under Omkareshwar package and not to get misled by anti-development elements.
