Officers Must Take Decisions Fearlessly: Sahni
Chief Secretary Shri Rakesh Sahni has said that officers should maintain constant dialogue with the masses and take right decisions fearlessly.
He was speaking at the concluding session of 83rd basic training to officers of Central Civil Services at RCVP Academy of Administration.
Addressing trainee officers, Sahni said that there are many challenges ahead in the future for them. He said that a tendency to delay or avoid decisions have been seen in the officers following implementation of RTI Act which is improper.
He described RTI Act as a welcome step towards democratic good governance and asked officers to take proper decisions fearlessly.
The Chief Secretary said that these officers might belong to Central Revenue Service but they will have to work in various departments of Government of India. Therefore, they should maintain a constant dialogue with people’s representatives, who are foundation of democracy, make them aware of facts and solicit their consent.
On the occasion, many dignitaries including Durgesh Shankar, Special Secretary Government of India and member of Central Board of Direct Taxes, Director General of Academy of Administration Dr Sandeep Khanna, Director Muktesh Varshney, senior officers of various departments and trainee officers were present.
