New record created with mass marriage of 1754 girls at Sironj
Bhopal: Marriages of 1754 girls were solemnised at a mass marriage function under Mukhyamantri Kanyadan Yojana on the premises of Government Lal Bahadur Shastri College, Sironj today. Mass marriage of 1754 couples has created a new record in the state. At the function, 150 pandits solemnised marriages with Vedic rites. Public Relations Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma blessed the newly wed couples and gave away gifts to them.
During the function, mass marriage procession of all 1754 grooms was taken out in 90 tractor-trolleys. All major roads in the town were bedecked with flowers and welcome arches created on this historic occasion. The marriage party was greeted at a number of places on way to the function venue. Minister Shri Sharma shared happiness of members of marriage party by dancing. Shri Sharma himself drove couples in a Buggy to the marriage function venue. Grooms were sitting in Minister Shri Sharma’s red-beacon official vehicle while he himself was walking on foot with marriage procession.
On the initiative of Culture Minister Shri Sharma, various sections of society contributed to gift away one camera mobile phone and colour TV each to new couples. Mobile number of the Culture Minister is fed into every mobile so that couples can contact him if they feel any problem.
