Network of agro-based small & cottage industries to be laid: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that a network of agro-based small & cottage industries will be laid in the state. New employment opportunities will be created in agriculture and allied sectors. Shri Chouhan was addressing Annapurna 2014 Felicitation Function here today. Public Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Narottam Mishra, Agriculture Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen, Revenue Minister Shri Rampal Singh and Minister of State for School Education Shri Deepak Joshi were also present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that making agriculture profitable is not a slogan, but a mantra. Once known as a Bimaru state with negative growth rate, Madhya Pradesh is now the fastest growing state. Its agriculture growth rate is the highest not only in the country, but also world. Shri Chouhan said that these achievements are not destination, but a milestone. Efforts are on that Madhya Pradesh feeds people of half of the country. He said that through Krishi Mahotsav, efforts are being made in the state to inform about crop cycle change, new farming techniques and awareness about allied sectors of agriculture.
He said that Krishi Mahotsav is a festival of farmers, not government. Farmers should come forward to avail its benefits and use new techniques in agriculture and concerning works. He informed that state’s farmers have also made remarkable achievements in fisheries and milk production. State has achieved 8 percent growth rate in milk production.
At the function, 13 progressive male and female farmers were conferred awards under various categories under Sahara Samay Network’s programme Annapurna Samay 2014,
