Naxal rebels beat up a villager to death and hanged another in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
Anil, who was abducted by the rebels on Nov 23, was hanged in the presence of residents at the Daglipura village on Monday. The rebels suspected Anil of being a police informer.
A villager was beaten to death by Naxals using lathis and rods in Pidiya village, police said.
In a separate incident, dozens of armed Maoist rebels stormed a village in the Kanker district of the state’s naxal-infested Bastar region and blew up an under-construction barrack on Monday night, say media reports citing the police.
The rebels left behind leaflets saying they will not allow security agencies to construct quarters in the interiors, they added.
Security across the state is on alert ahead of the week-long People’s Liberation of Guerrilla Army (PLGA) that kicks off Dec 2.
