MP’s cent percent population to get Aadhar Number by next year

Bhopal: A target has been set to provide Aadhar Number to entire 7.25 crore population of the state till June next. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has hoped that this work will be accomplished within the prescribed time-limit. It was informed at the meeting that the agencies not doing satisfactory work will be punished and their work will be entrusted to another agency on the same rate. An important meeting was held here today between Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India Shri Nandan Nilekani.

Shri Chouhan also invited Shri Nilekani to attend proposed Global Investors Summit at Indore. Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram was also present during the meeting.

It was decided at the meeting that collectors in the state doing excellent work in this connection will be awarded at the national and state levels. Besides giving unique identity, Aadhar Number card will provide several other facilities.

Shri Nilekani said that there are several excellent schemes of Madhya Pradesh Women & Child Development, Health, Education, Labour and other departments. Aadhar Number will not only accelerate pace of these schemes, but will also eliminate chances of irregularities. He said that through Aadhar Card, a beneficiary will have payment facility at home. He informed that this card will function as debit card also. This will also help farmers and other beneficiaries in cashless purchases.

Secretary Planning and Statistics Shri Sudhi Ranjan Mohanty while giving a presentation about the works being done in Madhya Pradesh informed that one crore seven lakh Aadhar Numbers have been allotted in Madhya Pradesh. Six machines will be installed for remaining six crore cards and an action plan has been chalked out to complete this work in 100 days. He informed that work of electronic payment work is being carried on a large scale in Madhya Pradesh. It will be linked with Aadhar.

It was informed at the meeting that several successful experiments have been made through Aadhar Number in Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh etc.

Additional Chief Secretary Panchayats & Rural Development Smt. Aruna Sharma, Principal Secretary Industries Shri Prasanna Kumar Dash, Principal Secretary Finance Shri Ajay Nath, Principal Secretary Revenue Shri Basant Pratap Singh and other officers were present on the occasion.
