MP to be country’s biggest centre of electronics system and manufacturing

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is going to become biggest centre of electronics system and manufacturing in the country. Now, microchips will be produced through latest technique in the state itself. After setting up of electronic fab plant in the state, there would be no need to import microchip used in electronic gadgets. This will save foreign exchange and also provide jobs to large number of people.

An MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Mantralaya here today between American company Messrs Cricket Semiconductors and Madhya Pradesh government for analog semiconductor unit in the state. Secretary Science & Technology Shri Hari Ranjan Rao and Shri Lou Hatter of the American company were present on the occasion.

The American company will establish a Rs. 6000 crore semiconductor fabrication unit in the state. It is noteworthy that Madhya Pradesh is the first state in the country to formulate analog semiconductor fabrication policy. Impressed by state’s investment-friendly policies, several American companies had offered to invest in the state during Chief Minister Shri Chouhan’s recent US visit. With arrival of Messrs Cricket Semiconductors company, process of investment has started.

What is I.C.

Integrated Circuit (I.C.) manufactured in semiconductor fab is used in almost every electronic equipment including mobile phones, telephone equipment, automatic process control equipment in industries, automobile, aeroplanes’s equipments, defence and medical sectors, smart cards etc.

Establishment of semiconductor fab in the state will lead to speedy development in this sector. Ancillaries like fabless design, electronic product/manufacturing services, assembly and testing units will come up around fab unit. These ancillaries will increase creation of jobs manifold and electronic manufacturing sector will grow rapidly.

Cooperation from state’s side

A number of facilities will be provided by the state government to Cricket Semiconductors including land allotment on token of only Re. one, cost of building shade, water as per unit’s requirements, power supply, sewage, fire-station equipped with chemical firefighting, road upto airport for transportation, free trade zone etc. Besides, the company will be provided special assistance for necessary skill development and augmentation, relaxation in stamp duty and labour laws, exemption from entry tax and single window.

Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa and Chairman of India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) Shri Ashok Chandak were specially present on the occasion.
