MP Now Power Surplus State

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh is now one of the few states in the country, where non-agriculture consumers are getting 24-hours power. Ten-hour power supply is being made to agriculture consumers. Madhya Pradesh is now power surplus state. The supply has registered 64 percent growth in the state in last five years. Total 6380 crore units electricity was supplied to consumers as per demand, last year and that was 12 percent more than the supply record of 2014-15.

In Rabi season alone, over 10,000 MW power was supplied. In the year 2003, the available electricity capacity was only 4673 and it is now 17,169 MW.  Roadmap has been prepared for power supply till year 2022. Till this time, the capacity will be 22,513 MW.

The second phase of Shri Singaji Thermal Power Plant, which is super critical technology project of MP Genco with capacity of 2×660 MW, is being developed by L & T Company. The first phase will be complete in 2018 and second in November 2018, with commissioning. The process is already underway to convert five lakh temporary agriculture pump connections into permanent ones.

Remarkable achievement in field of renewable energy

The state has registered remarkable achievement in the field of renewable energy. The sector has recorded growth of 2670 MW in last three years. Now, total capacity is 3107 MW in renewable energy in Madhya Pradesh. Last year, projects of 1580 MW capacity were installed in renewable energy sector and that was the highest one and one fourth of total capacity in renewable energy in the country. Solar plants of 750 MW capacity are being installed in Rewa district.  The work is on. The power from the plants will be provided to state as well as for Delhi metro.
