MP government has taken a host of welfare measures that would help to curb farmers’ suicides: CM

GUNA: On Sunday the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the Madhya Pradesh government has taken a host of welfare measures that would help to curb farmers’ suicides.

CM who was at Guna to attend a marriage function on Sunday told reporters, “The cases of farmer suicides will come to an end in Madhya Pradesh shortly as the government has taken a slew of welfare measures for them.”

When asked about union minister and Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia’s letter requesting him to pay Rs 5 lakh compensation each to the family of farmers who have ended their lives, Chouhan said that he has not received it yet.

In few recent days the state has reported huge suicide cases of farmers because of damage to crops due to the intense cold and rainfall.

CM said when asked about Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh’s charge that several BJP ministers were involved in corruption that the former chief minister is not taken seriously even in his own party.
