Mandla becomes 2nd district to have 24-hour power supply

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched Atal Jyoti Abhiyan in Mandla district today. With this, villages in Mandla district have started getting 24-hour domestic power supply and 8 hours for agricultural operations. Mandla has become the 2nd district in the state after Jabalpur to receive this facility. With this, power cuts will become a thing of past in the district.

Through Atal Jyoti Abhiyan, 1205 villages in Mandla district 38 thousand 825 low-tension and 17 high-tension consumers as well as 7 thousand 456 agricultural consumers will be benefited. Apart from benefit to small and village industries as well as Anganwadi centres, continuous power will be supplied to health centres, schools and communication centres under the campaign.
For the campaign, 3,525 kilometer long low-tension and 3,117 kilometer long 11 KV lines have been laid in Mandla district. As many as 2,112 distribution transformers and 27 sub-stations of 33/11 KV capacity have been established.
Objective of Atal Jyoti Abhiyan is to supply power for 2 4 hours to domestic, business, industrial and non-agriculture consumers on three-phase and minimum 8 hours for agriculture on three-phase. It also aims at livelihood improvement through small and cottage industries in rural, semi-urban and urban areas, increase in agriculture production, improvement in health and education services and ensure integrated development of urban and rural habitats.
Energy and Mineral Resources Development Minister Shri Rajendra Shukla, in-charge minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen, Minister of State for Rural Development Shri Dev Singh Saiyyam, Rajya Sabha member Shri Phaggan Singh Kulaste, other public representatives and citizens were present on the occasion.
Worship of Narmada: On the occasion, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan along with his wife Smt. Sadhna Singh and members of the council of ministers performed worship of Maa Narmada. He said that Rs. 1300 crore will be spent on purification of Narmada. All nullahs falling into Narmada will be diverted or their water will be allowed to fall into the river only after treatment. He administered a pledge to people to keep Narmada pollution-free.
Following launch of the campaign coinciding with Narmada Jyanti, the Chief Minister visited Baiga village on the Narmada bank and inspected an exhibition there. On the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated mobile soil testing and plant protect vehicle introduced by the Agriculture Department.
