Madhya Pradesh pioneer in enforcement of e-mail policy

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is a pioneer state where e-mail policy has been enforced. As many as 15 zonal capacity augmentation centres have been set up to train government staff. Cyber cells have been established by Madhya Pradesh at Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur and Gwlior, which are fully equipped with technology. Apart from bringing about awareness for cyber safety, it is also necessary to take precautionary steps in this regard.

These views were expressed by subject experts at the state-level workshop on cyber safety held by Information Technology Department here today. It was said in the workshop that cyber safety has become an important issue in the age of flow of information. People’s hunger is increasing for searching and collecting new information. Information technology has become a major power in this age. With this in view, due attention should be paid to cyber safety.

Throwing light on the subject, Secretary Information Technology Shri Hari Ranjan Rao said that e-mail has emerged as biggest means and facility of communication. Use of IT is being promoted in official work. Due to this, proper attention should be paid to cyber safety.

In his presentation, Additional DGP Cyber Police Shri Ashok Dohare informed about provisions pertaining to cyber safety in Information Technology Act and Indian Penal Code. He gave useful information about Computer Emergency Response Team of Government of India and electronic evidence. Shri Dohare also threw light on computer apps, data, devices, software, internet, WhatsApp, android, windows and applications. He dwelt on important points of National Cyber Security Police of July 2013 and IT Act 2000.

Shri Mohammad Akram of CERT, New Delhi said in his presentation that risks of misuse of mobiles and internet have increased with increase of their use. Mobile sets have become a challenge for our security. Such risks are more specially in finance and telecom sectors. Shri Khan gave useful information about precautions and safety methods to avoid such risks.

Through their presentations, Shri Parthasarthy of Delight India informed about cyber laws and senior legal advisor Shri Wakul Sharma, Mitkat’s CEO Shri Pawan Desai and MAP-IT consultant Shri Manoj Tiwari on various important points.

The workshop was conducted by Deputy Secretary Information Technology Shri Sudhir Kochar while Managing Director of State Electronics Corporation proposed a vote of thanks.
