Madhya Pradesh: Male police recruits stripped for measurements in front of females

BHOPAL: Amidst a political turmoil over “branding” of SC/ST youths during police recruitment drive in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh , a fresh controversy has erupted from Bhind district were male recruits were stripped to their undergarments for measurements in a room where female candidates were also being checked.Senior police officials assured legal action against health officials after a video footage showing stripped male recruits queued up for getting height and chest measured went viral.

It was a pre-joining medical examination of 217 constables, said sources.Police officials had requested doctors at the district hospital to conduct their examination on Monday.Health department has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Inquiry officer has also been asked to check whether the female nurses were available there or not to assist the examination of women candidates.District hospital authorities told local media that three out of four lady doctors in the hospital were on leave.

Bhind ASP Guru Karan Singh said that a legal action would be initiated against those responsible.
