Madhya Pradesh government draws up plan to go cashless

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Wednesday constituted a five-member committee to prepare a roadmap for the state government to switch over to cashless system within a stipulated period of time.

The move comes in the wake of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.

“The state government woke up to the reality when it has been found that the not-cull decision has particularly hit the rural population hard at least initially and decided to speed up process to turn to digital currency to cope up with a challenge of this nature in future,” sources in chief minister’s office said.

Mr Chouhan convened a meeting of heads of all the government departments to discuss the issue.

He ordered the departmental heads to send their suggestions to the committee in this regard to help it prepare the roadmap for the state government to switch over to cent percent cashless system.
