Maa Narmada Link Irrigation Project sanctioned for Alirajpur district

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that Maa Narmada Link Irrigation Project has been sanctioned for Alirajpur district. In the first phase, Rs. 582 crore has been sanctioned. He said that foundation stone of the project will be laid soon. It would change both image and fortunes of tribal district Alirajpur. CM Shri Chouhan was addressing Azad Mela on Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad’s birth anniversary at Chandrashekhar Azad Nagar today.

The Chief Minister said that Jobat extension project will also be sanctioned. It would be expanded at a cost of Rs. 157 crore and irrigate 10 thousand hectares in 22 villages. He assured to fulfill demand to open ITI at Bhabhra. The Chief Minister announced Rs. one crore each for Jobat and Bhabhra Nagar Parishads for development. Shri Chouhan also sanctioned Rs. 12 crore 52 lakh to Jobat under Mukhyamantri Peyjal Yojana and Eklavya Tribal Hostel at Sejwada. During the function, the Chief Minister sanctioned Rs. one lakh for treatment of a small girl and Rs. one lakh ex-gratia to family members of boy who died due to electrocution.

Referring to martyrdom of Chandrashekhar Azad, the Chief Minister said that the wave of revolution had given significant contribution for retreat of the Britishers from India. He laid emphasis on remembering revolutionaries of Indian history with respect. The Chief Minister said that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring development of the poor and tribals. The Chief Minister said that he has decided that the state government will bear expenses on admission fee of tribal students in IIT, IIM, medical and engineering colleges. He said that free food and scholarships will also be provided to students of class XI and XII. If a student takes admission in an authorized university in a foreign country, the state government will also bear expenses from Rs. 15 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh.

The Chief Minister said that on the demand of tribals, Ram Devra pilgrimage has been included in Mukhyamantri Tirth-Darshan Yojana. He said that the tribals dwelling on forest land for years but not receiving land rights pattas will also be given pattas.

Labour and Minorities Welfare Minister Shri Antar Singh Arya, MLAs Shri Madho Singh Dawar, Shri Nagar Singh Chouhan and Shri Amardeep Mourya also spoke on the occasion.

At Antyodaya Mela, the Chief Minister distributed benefits under Ladli Laxmi Yojana as a token, NRLN, toilets, tubewells, Balram Talab, biogas, schemes of Industries Department and input materials to beneficiaries. Sanction letters and materials worth Rs. 15 crore were distributed. The programme was conducted by Dr. Narottam Mishra.
