Krishi Karman Award dedicated to state’s farmers

Bhopal: Farmers and workers accorded a rousing welcome to Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan on his return at Bhopal State Hangar after receiving National Krishi Karman Award here today. Shri Chouhan said that this award is dedicated to state’s hard working farmers.

The prestigious Krishi Karman Award was conferred by President Shri Pranab Mukherjee at a function in New Delhi on Monday to Madhya Pradesh for maximum contribution in food grains production. Madhya Pradesh is the first state to receive this award consecutively for second time in food grains category.

Describing it as unprecedented achievement, the Chief Minister said that the award is the result of farmers’ labour and state government’s efforts. He said that area under irrigation has been increased in Madhya Pradesh and farmers have been provided seed, fertilisers etc. in time and agriculture loan at the rate of zero percent interest. Bonus on support price for procurement was given to farmers. This achievement is a tribute to these efforts. Now farmers will be motivated for farming of fruits, flowers, vegetables and all horticulture crops along with traditional crops so that they can earn more profit.

Those who accorded welcome to the Chief Minister at the state hangar included Urban Administration and Development Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, Higher Education Minister Shri Umashankar Gupta, Agriculture Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen, Women & Child Development Minister Smt. Maya Singh, Transport Minister Shri Bhupendra Singh, Minister of State for School Education Shri Deepak Joshi, MLAs Shri Rameshwar Sharma, Shri Vishwas Sarang and Shri Surendranath Singh, Shri Alok Sharma and large number of workers. Later, the Chief Minister halted at Lal Ghati Crossing and garlanded statue of late Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay.
