Killer was Known to Amrata Pancholi: Reports

Bhopal  —  A day after a yet unidentified attacker brutally stabbed to death, Amrata Pancholi, inside her on campus residence at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Indore – where she taught Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management – media reports suggest that the killer may have been someone known to the 32-year-old.

According to media reports the attacker had not forced his entry into the house where Amrata was later stabbed around a dozen times with a sharp edged weapon.

Possibilities of robbery as a motive behind the crime were negated as the victim’s gold chain and ring were still on her person when her body was recovered Friday morning.

Moreover, the IIM-I is not an ideal target for robbers as the sprawling campus has strict entry regulations making it mandatory for all visitors to register at the gates.

Curiously, the reports said there is no record of any stranger entering the campus around the time Amrata was murdered.

Speculations of what may have led to the gruesome killing are rife as the police and the IIM-I management are yet to release official statements over the incident.

An MBA, PhD from Mohan Lal Sukhadia University, Udaipur, Amrata, who had earlier taught at the BITS, Pilani, was staying alone on the IIM-I campus.

Ironically, her family arrived in Indore from Udaipur on Friday to attend a ceremony where the deceased was to receive an award, they heard of Amrata’s death from IIM authorities whom they contacted after she failed to reach the airport to receive them.

The reports cite sources to say that Amrata called her father Narayan Pancholi on Thursday, hours before her murder, to invite him to attend the award function.
