Keep ready disaster management teams in all districts: CM

Bhopal: Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed to keep ready disaster management teams in all districts, be alert continuously and act soon after getting information. Keep army helicopters ready at Bhopal to deal with emergency situations. The Chief Minister reviewed here today situation arising out of excessive rains during last few days in the state. Revenue Minister Shri Rampal Singh, Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa and DGP Shri Surendra Sinh were also present.

The Chief Minister said that alert should be maintained in all districts and people should be removed to safer places as soon as water level of rivers and nullahs starts rising. Situation should be monitored constantly. Immediate relief operations should be started if an area is affected by floods.

The Chief Minister directed to send immediate rescue and relief operation team regarding incident of washing away of 10 persons by flood in Khandar nullah near Budhni in Sehore district. He said that affected persons should be searched on a war-footing. Two women have died in the incident this morning. Next of the kin of the disease will be given ex-gratia of Rs. 1.50 lakh each. On being informed about power supply being affected by excessive rains at Ujjain, he directed to resume it at the earliest. People should be informed about phone number 0755-2441419 of state level flood control room. Along with helicopters of army, the 2 helicopters of the state government should also be kept ready.

The meeting was informed that 700 persons have been shifted to safer places to save them from floods and assistance has been extended to 2 thousand persons. Water level of Kshipra river at Ujjain has increased considerably. A bridge in rural area near Nasirpur in Guna district has been washed away and alternative traffic arrangements have been made there. The 31 people who were stranded near Indore due to rise in level of Khan river have been rescued. Similarly, 15 stranded persons have been rescued from village Bhad in Shajapur district and 16 at Maksoodangarh in Guna district. ACS Shri B.P. Singh, Principal Secretary Revenue Shri K.K. Singh, Principal Secretary PWD Shri Pramod Agrawal and other departmental officers also attended the meeting.
