Journalists may ask questions fearlessly, impartially and criticize also

Chief Minister Kamal Nath has told journalists that they may ask questions from the government fearlessly and impartially and also criticize the government. Nath was today launching the ‘Towards Excellence 2019’ programme of Makhanlal Chaturvedi. National University of Journalism and Communication. He told the students of journalism that they should respect their profession and take an oath as well.
Chief Minister Nath said that in order to strengthen democracy, it is necessary for journalism to stay away from temptation and pressure and assimilate the Constitution of India, which gives us the right to express our thoughts. He said that it helps me a lot when I read the criticism of my government’s schemes and system in newspapers. I take action on it. It helps me to overcome the shortcomings of my government.
The Chief Minister told new students studying journalism that they are associated with a profession that is an important pillar of democracy. So they should be impartial because fearless and impartial writing affects democracy in a positive way. The Chief Minister said that journalists and newspapers are not publications of the government. You have the right to criticize and it is your duty as well.
Chief Minister Kamal Nath told the students to understand the basic difference between education and knowledge. There is a limit to receiving education but knowledge can be acquired throughout life. He told the teachers of the university that they should connect their education system to the generation of today. If our education is in accordance with the changes that are taking place in the world and the country today, onely then we will be able to give a better future to our upcoming generation.
Chief Minister Nath said that Indian Constitution is unique in the whole world. Many countries have created their constitutions with the help of Dr. Ambedkar, the creator of our Constitution. Our constitution gives the message of unity in diversity. India is identified for this feature in the whole world. He said that our culture is to connect. Those who believe in seperation of the country, can never flourish.
7th payscale will be given
Chief Minister Kamal Nath announced to grant 7th pay scale to University teachers, scholarships to students of Scheduled Caste-Tribes studying in the University educational institutes and University’s contribution in employees insurance. He said that the government is commited to extend full support to the university in the commitment of developing an excellent University. He hoped that every student will establish the prestige of the University by turning into an independent and unbiased journalist. The Chief Minister released the syllabus of the new session. Nath was honoured with shawl, shrifal and welcome book.
Vice Chancellor of the University Deepak Tiwari said that the establishment of this University was the concept of former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi. He had expressed this desire in a programme organized in memory of Pandit Makhanlal Chaturvedi 32 years ago in Khandwa.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the University is moving towards the path of excellence in accordance with the ideology of the Constitution. Propaganda department is being set up separately to make the students of journalism aware and alert of the rising trend of fake news in social media with many innovations. This department will educate them to stay alert and be cautious regarding ignorance of social media and fake news.
