Irrigation Project in Dheemarkheda and Ghat on Narmada Shore in Jait Approved

Bhopal. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan presided over the meeting of Narmada Control Board today. An administrative approval was given for Dheemarkheda Micro Irrigation Project in the meeting. This project will provide irrigation facility on 15 thousand hectare land. Similarly, approval was given to construct ghat to prevent land erosion by Narmada river in village Jait. CM Shri Chouhan gave instructions to complete the Sleemnabad tunnel work before the next year.

Minister for Finance Shri Jayant Malayya, Minister for Water Resources Dr. Narottam Mishra, Minister for Public Works Shri Rampal Singh, Minister of State for Narmada Valley Development (Independent Charge) Shri Lalsingh Arya, Chairman Narmada Valley Development Authority Shri Rakesh Sahni, Incharge Chief Secretary Shri A.P. Shrivastava and other Officers were present in the meeting.

CM Shri Chouhan gave directives to complete the irrigation projects’ works within the stipulated time and to ensure quality in the works. It is informed in the meeting that water is supplied for irrigation on the left side only from the right side main canal of Bargi Diversion Project and irrigation is not possible on the right side because the level is high. Therefore, Dheemarkheda Micro Irrigation Project has been approved to provide sufficient irrigation facility to the farmers of Dheemarkheda area of Katni district. This project will provide irrigation facility on 15 thousand hectare land of 91 villages. Similarly, tender for construction of Alirajpur Micro Lift Irrigation Scheme has been approved on turn-key basis. Under the scheme underground pipe line is proposed to provide irrigation on 35 thousand hectare area.

Moreover, an administrative approval of Rs. 11 crore 87 lakh has been given to construct retaining wall and ghat to prevent land erosion by river current on the right shore of Narmada river in village Jait of Sehore district. It is also informed that Muktidhams, Poojan Kunds and Changing Rooms for women will be constructed on the ghats of Narmada River.
