Irrigation Meetings to Be Held In Entire State on October 13

BHOPAL. Minister for Water Resources, Public Relations and Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Narottam Mishra said that every engineer should ensure water supply from canals and other irrigation means to the fields of the farmers. Dr. Mishra was reviewing the works of irrigation projects in a meeting with the officers of the water resources department here today. He said that engineers will be awarded for their excellent work. It is informed in the meeting that special meetings will be held on October 13 in the entire state on maintenance of canals and to enhance irrigation area. Water consumer bodies will also participate in the meeting. Information as regard to difficulties can be given by the water consumer bodies in these meetings. These difficulties will be eradicated by the engineers. A report will be presented on October 15 after holding meetings at state level. Beside this, problems of farmers related to irrigation will be eradicated till October 31.

Minister Dr. Mishra mentioned that engineers must ensure water supply till tail end of the canals after inspecting areas. He further said that departmental machinery should keep constant touch with the farmers of the area for proper maintenance of canals and other means of irrigations. It is informed in the meeting that irrigation facility is being provided in 26.73 lakh hectare area in place of 30.92 lakh hectare area in the current year. Regular review at chief engineers’ level will give pace to achieve target. Dr. Mishra directed the chief engineers of Seoni, Rewa and Sagar to make more efforts in their respective areas to achieve the target.

Detail Review in Tri-Level Meetings

As per the fixed programme, chief engineers in the meeting of large projects and superintendent engineers in the meeting of medium irrigation projects will take part. Similarly, concerned executive engineers will take part in the meeting of small irrigation projects of district level. Principal Secretary Water Resources Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Engineer in Chief Shri M.J. Choubey, 30 Superintendent Engineers and 8 Chief Engineers were present in the meeting.

Responsibility to These Engineers

Chie Engineer Shri U.C. Jain of Chambal-Betwa Basin will hold meeting on Samrat Ashok Sagar Dam at Halali. Chief Engineer Gwalior Shri N. P. Kori will take meeting at Harsi Dam. Similarly, Chief Engineer Seoni Shri G. Sunaiyya will conduct meeting at Kevlari besides Chief Engineer Rajghat Project will take meeting in Datia and Superintending Engineer Shri M.M. Gandhi will hold meeting at Bhopal. This responsibility is being given by the Engineer in Chief to other engineers also.
