Horticulture corridor to be development between Indore and Bhopal

Bhopal: Agriculture Department will hold symposia at panchayat level in the state for giving entire information about Kharif-2013. A horticulture corridor will be developed between Indore and Bhopal. A modern nursery and training centre will be set up at a cost of Rs. 2 crore at Manpur in Indore district. Agriculture Science Centre will compile database of 2.5 lakh farmers this year. Potato special cluster will be established at Mhow in Indore district. This was informed by Agriculture Production Commissioner Shri M.M. Upadhyay at a meeting in Indore today.

Shri Upadhyay gave away letters of commendation to Indore Divisional Commissioner and all collectors of the division for national-level honour to the state in agriculture sector.
It was informed at the meeting that crops will be sown in 2123.74 thousand hectare in Indore revenue division during Kharif-2013. Target to grow 1816 kg per hectare has been fixed. Loans worth Rs. 2555 crore will be extended to farmers.
It was informed that work to reach out advance storage of fertilisers upto lowest level is on. Of the target of one lakh 56 thousand 95 tonnes, cooperative societies have stored 72 thousand 396 tonnes of fertilisers. Farmers have also starting lifting quota of fertilisers from societies. Similarly, seeds are also being lifted and stored.
During review of Rabi 2012-13, it was informed that Rabi crops were sown in 896.92 hectare in the division. Average per hectare yield was 3041 kg in the division against the target of 2703 kg per hectare.
