Govt. to Kick off the campaign for increase farm productivity

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh government will employ the best methods in Kharif season of cultivation to solve the farmer’s problem due to disadvantages of climate zones. It will increase productivity and farmers income. The pilot project has been implemented in pursuance to Agriculture Cabinet decision.
There are 127 climatic zones in the country. Madhya Pradesh has been divided into 11 climatic zones on the basis of diversity in soil, rains, temperature, fertility and social environs. Besides having some specialities, these climatic zones have some disadvantages as well from agricultural point of view. State’s Farmers’ Welfare and Agriculture Development Department has taken up a pilot project for finding out and solving technical level problems in these areas. Best methods of cultivation will be employed in the selected areas with increasing productivity and farmers’ income. Due to it, farmers will get integrated benefit under various schemes and become self-sufficient.
Under the project, a programme will be chalked out on the basis of possible problems and implemented in about 1000 hectare area of 4.5 villages in every district. Best ways for increasing productivity will be found out after thorough survey and consultation with farmers. The farmers not using proper farming techniques presently will be extended special benefit under the project. Such farmers will be imparted high technical training. They will also be provided training material. These farmers will be introduced with new agricultural implements and upgraded seeds will be provided on priority. Cent percent trained farmers will be motivated to sow treated seeds. Ways will be paved for such a method of farming through which farmers can get highest yield with minimum cost. As per requirement and eligibility, subsidies will also be provided to farmers for material. Demonstrations will be held on the fields of selected farmers. These fields will be developed as models for other farmers. Farmers will be imparted training in farm field schools being run under various schemes. Agriculture officers and scientists will also visit fields of these farmers from time to time and given guidance to them for removing practical problems.
This pilot project is going to assume practical shape from ensuing Kharif season. In the initial stage, Shri Method of paddy, Hybrid Maize Extension Programme and ridge ferro and raised bed planting have been included in the project.
