Govt to Build 1399 Houses for Police Personnel during Current Fiscal

As many as 1399 houses will be built for police personnel and 167 administrative buildings will be constructed during the current fiscal with funds worth Rs 66 crore, said an official release.

The information was given at a department advisory committee meeting held at Mantralaya today.

Home Minister Umashankar Gupta, who chaired the meeting, said that the state government is undertaking all possible efforts for solving police personnel’s housing problem.

At the meeting, information on the activities of Medico-Legal Institute, Home Guards, Prosecution and other institutions was given as members put forth their suggestions.

Member of the committee and MLA Mahendra Singh Kalukhera recommended providing maximum facilities and pay package to Home Guards and also more budget to Police Housing Corporation. He also suggested ensuring online registration of FIRs.

DGP SK Raut threw light on various achievements and needs of police force while Hari Singh Sapre said that Home Guards should not be laid off from time to time.

MLA Ramesh Prasad Khatik said that police chowkis should be upgraded to police stations.

Radhelal Bhaghel suggested increasing personnel and resources at police stations besides insisting that no police personnel should be allowed to be posted at a police station for more than three years.

Home Minister said that suggestions put forth by the members would be studied and they could give more suggestions to him in writing even after this meeting.

He assured members that appropriate action would be taken after studying their suggestions.
