Good Governance Day on December 24

Bhopal: Birthday of former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee is celebrated as Good Governance Day in view of the highest standards of good governance established by him. Directives have been given by the state government to all heads of departments, collectors and CEOs of Zila Panchayats in this regard.
On the occasion, functions will be held on December 24 in every district at an auditorium/venue where Shri Vajpayee’s photograph will be displayed and speakers will pay respect to him while throwing light on his life and deeds. Prominent public representatives of district, office-bearers and government officers will be invited to these functions. On the day, officers and employees will take pledge to maintain highest standards of good governance, whose responsibility will lie with office heads.

Good Governance Week will be observed in districts from December 26 to 30 during which various programmes will be held. Government servants having put in outstanding service will be identified and honoured at local level. Awareness will be created among people about Right to Information Act, Public Services Delivery Guarantee Act, Samadhan Online, public hearing, sanitation and other Acts/laws implemented for people’s empowerment through discussions at district and block levels. In colleges and high schools, symposiums will be held on subjects like environment, sanitation, energy, good governance and water conservation etc.

All government offices will run Swachchhata Abhiyan during Good Governance Week. Government records will also be systematized to ensure cleanliness in offices.
