Gaur to Review Work Progress of Narmada Project

To review the ground realities of Narmada Water Project, Urban Administration and Development Minister Babulal Gaur will visit Shahganj, said an official release.

The project costing Rs 339 crore is being implemented under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.

On visit, Gaur will be accompanied by Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur, concerning officers of Narmada Water Supply Project, PHE, Bhopal Municipal Corporation and the construction agency, release said.

The project envisages supply of water to 27.50 lakh estimated population of 2022 at the rate of 150 litres of water to every person daily. At present Bhopal’s estimated population is 18.50 lakh.

The project’s Bhumi Poojan was performed in 2005. The estimated daily capacity of Narmada project is 18 crore 50 lakh litres.

Under the project, an intake well of 34 crore litre capacity is being constructed at village Hidani in Shahganj tehsil of Sehore district. Its cost is Rs 1426.88.

Eighty-five percent work of laying pipelines has been completed. The completion of the project is getting delayed in the wake of delay in the construction of intake well, water treatment plant and sump wells due to various reasons.
